Good Morning - Today, April 17, I am happy to report that almost 1 month after a 911 call and an immediate admittance to Greenwich Hospital, dad is now amazingly being discharged. He will go to Burke Rehabilitation today to begin his PT work and now get back on his feet - literally. Over his 24 day COVID-19 journey, he has had 9 days on a ventilator, a silent heart attack, 9 days on an Azithromycin/hydroxychloroquine drug treatment, 3 cat scans, 2 major drops in Blood Pressure due to internal bleeding episodes, 1 Renal ultrasound, 5 blood transfusions, a colonoscopy and an upper endoscopy, a second brief intubation, an 80th birthday, the best of treatment by 17 doctors, 51 nurses, 1 social worker and one blissful bed move to a window - we couldn’t feel more extremely grateful and blessed that he has ridden this wave with such strength and perseverance. Our family cant thank each and everyone of your for your prays and support during this journey. I think it might be safe to say that dad survived COVID-19! Cant wait to celebrate dad!!!!
11.45am Family report: Just heard from Dr. Ward - he said that dads level look great and he is all set to head off to Burke - they are setting up a time and will let us know as soon as they have figured out transportation… Burke will be equipped to monitor all of dads bloodwork and Greenwich will pass along all information so they have the complete picture. Overall Dr. Ware said he was ‘Very Very happy with the outcome’. and so are we….
11.50am Family report: Just heard from Helen, dads social worker who has given final approval that dad is going to be released to Burke today. He will leave Greenwich Hospital at 2pm in an ambulette from the Emergency Room Department. He will be going to the Pulmonary Unit at Burke - we do not yet have a room number. Now, trying to figure out what is the best way to give dad a grand exit from the hospital - thinking about lining the drive way with friends and family who might want to come out….
4.00pm report: Dad has finally moved out of Greenwich Hospital and he is all checked into Burke Rehabilitation. My mom, sister and I all showed up for the 2pm departure - he was loaded into the ambulance and was so excited to see us -

Felicia and I then raced to Burke where we checked him in and waited for his arrival. We kept our distance and blew hugs and kisses his way once he arrived! On our way back from the hospital we got a phone call form Nurse Phoebe, she wanted to let us know how much they are all going to miss dad - they loved him!! They also said that they are so appreciative and thankful for all the food that has been sent their way - they really love that the community is taking care of them. Thanks to those of you who have helped in that capacity…
7.06pm report: just talking with dad… again…. and he said he will be there a minimum of 2 weeks…This is one of dads doctors who will be working with him…
