12.30pm report: Dad seemed to do very well overnight. He slept well, and this morning he was alert and even ate breakfast (pureed foods, thickened OJ, etc) and took meds. They are happy that he has an appetite - that is a good sign. He has been breathing room air and he is tolerating that and doing well. HIs blood pressure is a bit high, so they are monitoring that and will give him the appropriate meds to bring it down. Also, sodium levels are a bit high (150) - they are monitoring that.. nothing of concern, just all things to watch. He is out of restraints and following commands - all good… Ill wait to hear from the doctor and hopefully will chat with him soon..
1.30pm report: just heard from Dr Archer- he was the first Dr that dad saw when he got to Greenwich Hospital about 3 weeks ago - he said when he walked in to the room and saw dad they definitely had a moment and how amazing it was to see him on the other side…. Overall, he said dad looks good today - His sodium is back to normal (from 150 to 143) so they are going to remove the feeding tube, his Kidneys are coming down nicely (3.15-2.41) his Hemoglobin is steady (8.6) and his inflammatory markers are down (CRP at 3.7). His catheter is out and he has a condom catheter for now… He is on aspirin for his anti-coagulate and he is on one Blood Pressure med, Metroprolol. They will start with PT early next week and then think about looking into rehab facilities which he will have to go to before he comes home….
Spoke to dad this evening...
The dogs can sense that I am struggling..that I am sad....
