11am family report: First call this morning, again was from dad - he said he guess he was ok because he was already back in his room…About an hour later I heard from Dr. Kramer. He said the procedure was fairly uneventful - which is a good thing… Dad was intubated during the procedure, his respiratory status was great which enabled a successful extubation at the end. During the upper endoscopy they found a couple of ulcers in the small intestine. These ulcers could have been caused by the stress of intubation or the H.pilori bacteria - they are testing for that. He noticed that the bleeding had stopped at this point. These ulcers are being treated with a Protonix infusion - acid reducing medication. Through the colonoscopy, they discovered diverticulitis - which has the potential to bleed, they did find some old blood - but nothing new. Also just heard from Dr Ward, who is watching his overall progress and mentioned that dads picture is looking pretty good. Today, they will try to ween him off the 1 Litre of oxygen, he is tolerating a diet, no more bleeding, renal numbers are trending down and his hemoglobin and blood pressure is stable. PT is following his progress and they will step in when they think he is ready, which might be as early as later today or tomorrow. We have been in contact with dad every day and he remains to be chatty and alert. Day by day……

11.47am report: Just got a call from dad - he wants to be moved to burke because he said the PT at Greenwich is bullshit….said that he had just finished his physical therapy - he was moving his legs, standing up, walked 10 steps, lifted each leg 10x - overall he felt good but weak. oh, he also wants to be moved to bed by the window… I guess i will make that happen..

4.30pm report: Great News! Dad is moving to the window!! Looks like i worked my magic. Been chatting with him all day - he is in great spirits and feeling ok. Lets hope this is now a steady path forward! Oh and BTW he is holding steady off the oxygen and breathing on his own…
